I AM

A girl from green and rainy country – Lithuania. Today I’m one of many London’s students who are trying to explore every corner of this marvellous and big city. I'm currently studying Graphic Design and Fine Art at the University of East London.

While I was living in Lithuania I studied in a Gymnasium, which is not based on Arts, so I used to attend extra curriculum at M.K. Ciurlionis School of arts, who is the most famous artist and musician in Lithuanian history. I used to sketch a lot of still life and human portraits. I really enjoyed doing that and this is how my interest in human anatomy. Moreover, this is how I learned to draw human body, anatomy, still life objects in general as well as scaling proportions of an object drawn and coordination between the eye and figure drawn. To add more, I learned how to use watercolours correctly by using different layers, shades, contrast and tones.

I chose to study in London, because Lithuania does not offer a lot of opportunities regarding the study of arts subject and the costs of studying there is very high. Lithuania has a problem with arts and artists because people do not recognise arts in general, so it’s very hard to make a living out of art. Graphic design and Fine arts were the subjects I chose, because; Fine art allows me to be creative and completely free in being expressive with my ideas and drawings visually while Graphic Design also allows me to be creative but it’s more practical in real life and after all, gives a lot more opportunities out there when having all the skills for this subject. So far I really enjoy both of these subjects, even though it’s still the beginning and I’m not doing anything major I have a feeling that it’s going to keep getting better.

Hopefully studying in University of East London, both Graphic Design and Fine Art will teach me a lot of new and interesting things or skills that will allow me to express myself even more in future. I also believe it’s a very rewarding career choice if art is something that is close to your heart – and if it is then you will be able to achieve great things with it. Saying that, I love art, I love design, I love being creative and expressive and I hope to show a lot of things to the world especially to people who are stuck in everyday life like financial workers, builders or administrators things that they can’t see and cant flow around in. my nearest achievement would be to get a degree and hopefully start out a career in this area of Fine Art and Graphic Design.

I believe an artist is a person who is able to extract himself from everyday life and show inspiring, original, amazing, new, thoughtful or beautiful.
